Just me and the boy

Daddy, aka Mr. Big-Time Writer, is off on book tour. Yay for him, boo for us. Winter has returned with a vengeance and neither Kismet nor Charley want to spend any amount of time outside. Thank goodness for grandparents! This time around I'm fortunate enough to have John and Marilyn home from travels to lend a hand. 2 weeks alone with a busy boy and needy dog would have been too much to bear alone.
Charley had a rough few days over the weekend, with teething and pain. I think the big, first molars are pushing their way down. Yikes! How can I have a child old enough for molars!?
I must say, outside of teething, a year old baby is quite fun. Especially the eating part. According to today's wisdom babies can eat just about anything at this age. I'm taking up that challenge and have fed Charley bits of just about everything. Nothing has been rejected so far. (He wasn't too keen on feta cheese, but gave it a go anyway). Pickles, blueberries, rye toast, apricots, strawberries, different cheeses, yogurt... he has a more varied diet than his father!
He slept beautifully last night, so let's hope the teething has subsided for the short term and that the next 2 weeks are all about happy baby and copious book sales.

Here's the clever lad today:

I said "okay Charley, now focus..."

Where's your drum?

Where are your toe-toes?

Where's your tongue?

I wish I could say that I asked him to "rock out", but he just plays his drum all on his own. We'll work on that one though...
