Back from the depths.

Of parenthood, that is. Chris returned from his week away to much family glee. Everyone was happy for his return, especially me. His return doesn't guarantee me any more sleep at night, but it's nice to have another grown-up around. This ensures that I don't speak in toddler-talk for the rest of my life. (I hope).

The weather has turned and this is creating a new problem. Last week's wonderful weather meant that I could spend the afternoon walking the boys in the stroller. This is the only way Charley will have a nap these days and I was willing to do the daily marathon to get a happier, more rested guy. But, now the rain is upon us! Yesterday was dreary, cold and wet and so no stroller time. You can imagine the rest. Screechy, over-tired Charley boy.

I will never understand the mind of a toddler. At night, Charley gets in his bed and goes to sleep with no, or little, fuss. If you put him in the same bed during the day, he screams like it's filled with acid, tarantulas and a hornet's nest. I have tried every possible option to get this boy back on the nap-track, but none work. The best I can do is put him in front of Bob the Builder for half and hour and have a little peace then. Maybe I should bring the stroller into the house and let him climb in there?! Whatta kid.

Eww, and it's October. Don't get me wrong. I would take October for about 9 months of the year, but it does mean that winter is nearly upon us. Is it just me or did winter not just end? I swear I have clearer memories of the snowbanks than I do of the "summer heat".

A lovely bright spot is my parents acquisition of a new seasonal house in New Brunswick. (Do you still call it a cottage if it's on the ocean?) They are there now exploring their new place and Emily, who went for a few days, sent these pictures along.

A 3 minute walk to the ocean:
The dogs are loving it JUST a bit.

As for the home front, here are some shots of the boys over the last couple days. Sam is 7 months old now!
