I've been reeeeally sick this week. And, it was extra crappy because Chris was away for the last 4 days. I actually lost my voice... like, totally. It's very hard to deal without a voice in general, especially when the phone rings, but it's almost impossible to do "parenting" without a voice. Dealing with a toddler without my regular tones, (ie: praising, cautioning, cross-voice...) is crazy! I was doing whisper talk to him for a whole day and he learned to ignore it really quickly.
I was/am very grateful to have had help this week, including from my lovely sister-in-law, Melissa, who took Charley for the morning on Thursday. This would always be something nice, but was extra nice of her since she's 41 weeks pregnant! Hopefully there will be a new baby in the next day or two. Thanks to Marilyn too. The boys love her and her visits always brighten up our day.
Poppa J, also known as Daddy Jimmy, has been here for a few days. What a help! Just having someone to walk the dog and entertain Charley, the Demanding One, is a major bonus.
Here are a few shots from the day.
Clean room! Anyone who knows my living room knows it's always COVERED in toys. Thanks to a new storage unit and Jim's labour, we have a tidy room. Now, it'll only last a day, but it sure was nice...
A note on Sam. When he gets upset, he sweats. Really hot and sweaty. He inherited this from a relative who shall remain nameless. This phenomenon causes his hair to go from modest, flat hair (aka as my hair) to puffy party hair. I can't explain it. When his hair is puffy, beware. A bad mood rises...
Playing with a baby-forbidden plastic bag was all that would cheer him up. I think he must have the sore-throat I've had, poor little mite.
