Okay...

Here's the deal with the delay between posts:

We've had a rough week.

I know... I know... all the posts seem to start that way. Frankly, we've had a tough go since we got back from Florida.

Chris left for a 9 day work trip early on Saturday, amidst raging kid illness. Charley spent the weekend with a very high fever, nosebleeds, delirium, lethargy and general crankiness. After a desperate call to good ol' Mummy (who left her home at 5 a.m. to get here) and a visit to the doctor, it was declared that Charley has the same virus every other kid in town has, plus a sinus infection. We were up most of the night for a number of days. And then, after 3 days of service Granny Al succumbed to a left-over flu bug and headed home.

That brought us to Tuesday. Only 6 days left until Chris was home. Toooooo lonnnnng.

As of this morning, both boys have a chesty cough and runny noses. Charley sounds like Bobcat Goldthwait and Sam sounds like a pug in August. And, despite everything, this is an drastic improvement!

I am illness-free (knock on every wood in the house...) but feeling a little gaunt.

I know this is just one of these months that everyone with kids goes through, but it's a hard battle when you're in the middle of it. I also know that, in a month, it'll be a fading memory.

It sure makes me miss my busy husband. He's not having a vacation-week, for sure. He's doing about 1000 things in California right now. And, it's the worst weather there all year!

Let us seek out positives.

1. It's been so warm here. The snow is half gone and I actually had the window open for an hour yesterday.

2. There are buses rolling on the streets of Ottawa again. Thank goodness.

3. Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. What would we do without her?

4. I just read the most amazing, inspiring and emotional book. And (gasp!) it's non-fiction!
Please buy this or get it out from your local libraries and read it: The Oxford Project

5. My boys are lovely, beautiful creatures who make me laugh, even when they're sick.

The fever-meister:

In contrast, Sam has been quite chipper. What a cute, cute, cute boy.

Oh yeah... except when he's not. This is Sam declaring "The sun! It burns!!"

And back to cute. And naked. His happiest time of the day.

Busy playing with Charley's favourite toy. While the cat's away....

Enforced outdoor time for Charley.

The boys doing what they do best: Trying to learn to share. Sometimes it happens, most of the time it doesn't.

Here's to the road to recovery! May it be an empty express-way. Cheerio.
