Where am I?

Between waking up very early due to jet-lag and looking out upon a grey, cool and very green world, I couldn't help but wonder where I was this morning. Charley was super chipper come 5:45 (which I guess is actually a sleep in to his body...) and we were off. Sam, being Sam, slept 12 + hours and is back in bed for a nap now.

We had so many outing and stops and adventures on this trip. It's hard to know where to start. We spent a few days in London at the beginning and stayed here. I have never lived in such a beautiful place, and probably never will. It was a real find and a great place to spend a few days before heading off to Wales.

We drove to Wales on the 29th, and arrived the evening before Kelly and Rhy's wedding, the real reason for the trip. The wedding was gorgeous and the weather was the best you could ever hope for.

We were all staying in an old farmhouse in Nolton Haven. There were 14 of us, including 6 children. 4 of the 6 kids are under 3, so it was exactly as 'busy' and 'boisterous' as you might imagine. We had a great time in the village and the beach was the perfect location for the boys.

The bay is quite amazing. The difference between low and high tide is dramatic. (In fact, you can see where the sand changes colour way up in the photo marking the line of high tide.)

After a week of Wales fun, we headed off to the Bath area for the last weekend. We stayed in the most amazing 18th century cottage in a perfect village. I think this is my favourite place we've ever rented and I can't wait to go back (hopefully without children) some day.

It was a very busy almost 2 weeks and I'm a bit groggy today. There's something particularly disheartening about suitcases, exploding dirty clothes laden with sand all over the floor. So, it's laundry and re-assembling the house today.

Oh, and did I mention that Chris had his vasectomy this afternoon? Too much information, I know. And, it wasn't a decision (entirely) based on having just spent a week in a house with 6 children... it was booked before the holiday. He's in bed recovering. I told him he gets a day to convalesce, with some amount of sympathy from me and then he's on his own. HELLO! I grew and carried Sam's head around for 9 months and recovered from delivering him. Chris' entire procedure was 5 minutes... no stitches, no anaesthetic. He'll be fine.

On that note, I'll finish with another batch of vacation photos for you.

Some wedding day photos for you:

Cool kids in a cool car with Uncle Gerald:

Chris with Uncle Billy and his sons, Lee and Gareth. Yes, having another Lee around was confusing, especially when you find out his girlfriend's name is Chris. He seems to fit in with this family just fine. And who can blame him? They are a lovely bunch.

Chris shares some laughs with the gang. You can just hear his wheezy bray, right?

Grampy and Devon have a nice moment looking at the local cows.

Boys on a walk:

Sam the man.

Cow gazers:

Aunty "Momo" and Sammy

Charley, Hayden and Owain are cool dudes:

Somehow I don't have any photos of the bride and groom, so here are a few shots, courtesy of Debbie and Anne:

And, perhaps the only photo of me taken that day (and all trip!).

Surely that's enough for one night. I started this post about 10 hours ago and it's time to put it to bed.
