Chocolate cake, new engines and sneezing.

Last night we (Sarah and Evy, Charley, Uncle Phil and I) celebrated the birthday boy. I think he enjoyed himself and was mostly delighted by his first chocolate cake. It was a low-key affair compared to last weekend, and that's just fine by me.

Sarah and Evy departed this morning, and the house feels emptier (not to mention much more male) since they left. They are welcome anytime.

Here are a few shots of our celebratory dinner last night.

Amazement:

Big bro helps out:

Not too sure after the first bite:
Quickly becomes a fan:

Charley shows him how it's done:

And then, the tears. He wasn't crying because he was hungry, or tired, or sad or anything normal like that. No. This super-sad face is because Uncle Phil sneezed.

And a few more general shots of the girls visit.

Mega tv-glaze-over:
And, we're back!

Birthday boy celebrates himself!

Finally a video just for Granny Barb, Granny and Poppa. Many thanks for the wonderful prezzies for the boys. I cannot describe the excitement on Charley's end. He's really over the
moon.

Here he is getting one of his new engines. I think you can tell from my exclamation that I didn't expect him to know which one it was. (I really didn't prompt him on that...) I guess that's what comes from reading him the Thomas catalogue. (His idea, not mine).

Happy birthday (yesterday) to Uncle Ed. It's sure an easy one to remember! Smooches.
