Despite these conditions, some good laughs were had. John and Marilyn were with us, and not at all dressed for the weather, (having not packed for an arctic expedition when they came...) so they watched most of the parade from our hosts living room window.
We lasted for about the first two-thirds of the parade before we feared frostbite and headed out. Even so, the part we saw was very, very 'Montana'.
A giant bull, of course:
Some super cool dudes:
This one was puzzling... it was the physiotherapists scampering down the street with crutches and walkers in hand. Celebrating the need for physiotherapy? Not quite sure.
One cold old dude on his wee car. I guess normally there's a herd of them, but less this time due to cold.
I'm not sure who the Dolly Vardens are, and I'm pretty sure some of them were men, but amusing nonetheless.

An impressive crew:
Woo HOO! Me loves a good bookmobile.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the day were the forester-dudes who were playing their chainsaws like electric guitars. Like I said, very, very Montana. Their float said "We support the forestry industry", which I think means 'we like cutting trees down'.
They were so jazzed up that right after this picture was taken the guy with the red bandana under his yellow helmet fell off and under the float. I wasn't sure for a minute if he was actually in danger, and the float slammed to a halt. There was much yelling and pointing, but I think, in the end, they were worried that the chainsaw would get run over and fetched it.
Ah! Missoula! When you look up at the snowy mountains and down at the lumberjacks, there's no doubt where you are.

Life in the West is lots 'o fun, that's for sure.
