Much afoot

Lots going on here. Chris, the poor lamb, is off to the hospital today. After many years of chronic intestinal issues, the day has come to remove the offending bits. In this case, a foot or two of small intestine. He'll be in the hospital for a week, or so, and then have a long road to the "return to food". We've eaten at his favourite restaurant this week so that he'll have nice memories of solids for a while.

He's been busy with other things too. On monday he did a NPR show about his big new story. The show is the equivalent to Cross Country Check-up on CBC. If you'd like to listen to it, here's the link:

We, obviously, are going to miss Big Daddy a lot around here. The boys won't see their dad until he's home... so that's a long stretch for all of them. My mom is coming up for a few days, thankfully, so I won't be solo-parenting for the whole week.

The boys are doing great. I'm still trying to figure out this whole "2 needy beings" thing. It's most difficult when the both REALLY need you at the exact same moment. In addition to this, Charley has started a new screaming phase, (perhaps in response to Sam crying??) and that is enough to make the most patient person go a bit crazy. Yes, this too will pass.

Here are a few shots from today:

Big Bruiser:
Bruiser in the Cruiser. This basket is his "boat". Guess how it's powered? Is mom power a renewable energy source? Hmm....
A lovely fake smile for all of you:
Sammy Long-Body. He's wearing 6 month clothing already.
" What's that man doing to me!?"

Will try and get a shot of Chris leaving today, so that we can do a comparison next week. The doc's say he'll lose at least 20 pounds!

Enjoy the weather.

Best wishes to Chris -- I'll keep him in my thoughts. And to you, Lee, in this upcoming single-motherhood stint.

Hugs all around.

Listened to the NPR thing last night - very interesting! I love how he almost cried - what a Chris moment! Will be thinking of him lots today.

We hope Chris is doing well post surgery and that he's not missing his piece of bowel too much.
I realize he'll be on an all-liquid diet for a while, so I'm sure he'll be suffering immensely. He'll be missing out on all his favourite foods. Somehow I don't think a rare-burger shake seems all that appealing. However, beer qualifies as a liquid, no? ;)

Hope you and the wee ones are doing well.
