So you write a post about a bad day (it was a bad one...) and then Haiti turns 3 million of it's people upside down and you think that getting knocked out by your shovel is not such a bad thing.
I've had a heavy heart about the devastation. It's hit a little too close to home as Phil's new neighbour, a sweet girl named Katie, is one of the missing Canadians. She arrived in Haiti 90 minutes before the earthquake and checked into her hotel. That particular hotel has collapsed and there's no word on her fate yet.
I won't pretend I know her, but seeing her shoes all lined up outside her door makes me feel a little extra sick and sad for all those people who are wondering about their missing loved ones. I don't know how I would survive if it was Chris who had been traveling and I was stuck here waiting for any news. My heart goes out to all those suffering from this global loss.
So, what can you do? Well, obviously you can donate money and send your thoughts and prayers. My wonderful MP, Paul Dewar, was hosting a campaign fundraising bowling event last night and changed his mind and donated all the money to the relief efforts. Yay for people like him.
In the meantime, one can only be grateful to be in a safe place with a healthy family and food and water and electricity and doctors and strong buildings and peace.
And classic rock.
Because sometimes you just have to dance.
